Caffé Sant’Eustachio’s Way of Trading

Even if the fair trade coffee that Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè buys is high quality coffee, they wanted to do it even better so that they began to travel frequently to the zones of Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Brazil where the coffee is produced, in order to know the methods of production and the local social organization.

The direct contact with the farmers, the knowledge of the coffee processing techniques and of the methods to cultivate coffee gave them the hint to start social programs.

With the Buon Caffé Program, Sant’Eustachio established a direct relationship with Coopfam, a Brazilian co-op of small scale farmers from Poço Fundo, in the State of Minas Gerais. The good relationship with the associates of Coopfam and the sharing of the same social and environmental philosophy brought Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè to donate to this co-op the extra proceeds destined to the Buon Caffè Program.

Beside being paid a fair price for the coffee and be partially paid in advance (up to the 50% of the cost of the ordered products), Coopfam receives extra benefits, obtained from the sale of Sant’Eustachio Coffee Blend. These benefits are employed in social programs useful for the co-op.
